A pilot flies planes.

There are different career paths for pilots. Some pilots fly big passenger or cargo jets for airlines – others are military pilots flying military planes.

What is particularly important to be successful as a pilot:
A really good understanding of natural sciences and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Pilots typically form part of a crew consisting of the captain, and the first officer or co-pilot, who work together to safely fly and navigate aircraft. They also perform regular aircraft inspections.
