About Nungua Senior High

Nungua Senior High School is situated in the heart of the Nungua township along the Accra-Tema beach road. It was founded by Nii Daniel Quaye Tawiah, a native of Nungua in 1958 when his son, Enoch Otu Quaye was brought home from the Presbyterian Secondary School, Odumase-Krobo and installed as chief with the stool name Nii Odai Ayiku IV, Nungua Mantse. It was to offer the young chief, who was 15 years then, the opportunity he so desired to continue secondary education and also be available for chieftaincy affairs. Nii Quaye Tawiah therefore converted his private residence into classrooms, administration block and staff bungalows. He managed the school single-handedly from his private resources until the Government finally absorbed it into the Public system of education. The first candidates of 15 students were presented for the General Certificate of Education (GCE Ordinary Level) in May 1963.
