Examination Malpractices and Sanctions
WAEC noted that after investigations into examination irregularities, the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee, at its 36th meeting on August 15, 2025, approved several sanctions:
- Cancellation of subject results of 718 candidates
- Cancellation of entire results of 177 candidates
- Withholding of subject results of 1,240 candidates
- Withholding of entire results of 93 candidates
Additionally, subject results from candidates in 119 schools have been cancelled, while results from 87 schools remain withheld pending further scrutiny. The Council indicated that withheld results may either be released or cancelled after investigations conclude on September 6, 2025.
Candidates whose results have been cancelled or withheld can check the status and reasons by visiting https://irreg.waec.org or clicking on the withheld/cancelled button on the WAEC homepage.
Caution Against Fraud
WAEC has cautioned candidates, parents, and the general public to beware of fraudsters who claim to have the ability to upgrade results for a fee. The Council emphasized that all WAEC results are secured and verifiable.
Appreciation
The Council expressed its gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, Security Agencies, Heads of Schools, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners, and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring the successful conduct of the 2025 BECE and the timely release of results.
