Mfantsipim School has made history once again, successfully defending their title to emerge as champions of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). The Botwe Boys claimed back-to-back glory and secured their fourth national trophy in a breathtaking grand finale held at the University of Cape Coast’s NEC Auditorium.
Dubbed the “Battle of the Giants,” the contest featured three of Ghana’s most decorated schools—Mfantsipim School, St. Augustine’s College (Augusco), and Opoku Ware School (OWASS). The atmosphere was charged with excitement as supporters cheered their teams through each nail-biting round.
Mfantsipim took an early lead with 20 points in the first round, while Augusco and OWASS followed closely with 17 points each. The second round saw Augusco surge ahead with quick teamwork, ending with 27 points as Mfantsipim trailed at 24. However, the defending champions soon regained control in the Problem of the Day, earning 30 points—just one ahead of Augusco.

By the fourth round, Mfantsipim had stretched their lead to 46 points, keeping Augusco at 42 and OWASS at 29. The final round sealed their dominance as they finished with an impressive 56 points, while St. Augustine’s College placed second with 42 points and Opoku Ware School followed with 29.
The auditorium erupted in celebration as red-and-white flags filled the air and chants of “God is a MOBA!” echoed throughout. The Botwe Boys lifted their trophy high, marking a proud moment of victory, unity, and academic excellence.
With this triumph, Mfantsipim School not only defended their championship title but also cemented their legacy in NSMQ history, standing tall as one of the greatest schools in Ghana’s academic competition landscape.
