Student studying for the BECE in Kwabenya

In a few weeks, junior high school students will be preparing for the 2022 BECE examination.

The examination for this year will take place on Monday, 17th October 2022, and will conclude on Friday, 21st October 2022.

Ghana Education News confirmed that successful candidates can get placement into Senior High Schools to enjoy the Free Senior High School. The Ghana Free SHS system began in 2017.

Over 571,894 candidates took the exam in 2,158 testing centers across the country in 2021.

Same timetable for private and public schools

During the 2022 BECE, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) will administer the examination for both private and public school candidates. As a result, WAEC will permit the two categories of candidates to write the same examination and paper for the first time in several years.

WAEC is expected to wage a tough war against examination malpractices before and during the examination. This is done to protect the examination and the Council from fraud.

BECE 2022 Timetable

The 2022 BECE Timetable and updates have also been released several months before the examination by the Ghana Education Service. The 2022 BECE timetable reveals that on the 17th of October 2022, the first subject to be written would be Social Studies. Section B will start at 9 a.m. and section A will start at 10 a.m. At 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., the second information and communication technology (Essay) paper and the first ICT (Objective) paper will be delivered. French papers 2 and 1 will be delivered on 21st October, which happens to be the last paper.

Preparation for the 2022 BECE

Several aspects can positively or negatively affect the results for the BECE candidates.

These include:

  • the preparation of the students
  • their level of mental stability
  • the internal locus of control (self-belief and confidence in their ability), and
  • the motivations of their teachers and families.

In order to stay on top of the situation, the GES News Team has issued a plea to all schools, teachers, parents, and candidates. Organizations including parents are being challenged to boost their candidate’s morale.

Teachers and schools need to ensure that students make revisions a bit more than in the previous two weeks. They are to keep working to reach the highest potential that they can.

In a few weeks, the 2022 BECE exam, which will commence on 17th October 2022 for candidates, will be a breeze – at least for those with the right studying attitude coupled with a physically and psychologically prepared state of mind.
