WAEC Announces 2024 Provisional WASSCE Results: Mathematics Performance Improves, Science Scores Decline

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Ghanaian school candidates.

The results had been delayed due to financial and logistical issues, including a breakdown of essential scanning equipment and outstanding government debts. These challenges affected the timely processing of examination scripts.

Reports revealed that the delay impacted over 460,000 candidates, causing considerable concern among students and their families.

To resolve the situation, the Ministry of Education provided WAEC with an additional GHS25 million. This funding supported repairs, equipment replacement, and marking activities, enabling the results to be finalized and released.
